Tunbridge Wells restaurant introduces new menu for ‘Yummy Mummies’ who lunch.
Woods Restaurant & Wine Bar in the Pantiles, a popular haunt with mums who lunch, has introduced a new menu
to coincide with their children’s return to school in September.
The menu includes new starters such Smoked Salmon & Herb Salad with a light Cucumber Dressing and the Potted
Crab with Gooseberry Compote and Melba Toast at £5.50. New main dishes include Breast of Chicken on a Warm Salad
Crispy Bacon and Rocket with Chilli and Mint Yoghurt and New Potatoes (£10.75) and Sweet Potato stuffed with
Spinach topped with Roasted Tomatoes and Goats Cheese (£9.25).
New puddings include the Three Chocolate Bread and Butter Pudding with Ice Cream (£ 3.75).
Not that the restaurant is set to lose its child-friendly reputation, “Mums are still welcome to bring their
pre school children during the day- we have baby high chairs, a choice of children’s meals and offer crayons and
a colour,” maintains operations manager, Claire Wood, herself a mother of a 10-year old son.
“With the kids back at school we just want to provide mums – and dads - the chance to get their sanity back,
whilst enjoying good, locally sourced, seasonal food.”
To enable parents to encourage their offspring to be more adventurous in their dining habits, Woods serves
children half portions of most of main dishes from the menu. The special children’s menu also includes the
staples - Sausage, Chips or Mash and Beans, Fingers, Chips and Peas, Ham with Tomatoes and Roasted New
Potatoes, and Cheese and Bread with an Apple, all served with a drink of squash, coke or lemonade at £3.50.
A child’s serving of ice cream is £1.95.
Woods is open 7 days a week for breakfast from 8.00am with its bar open until midnight except Sunday
and Monday evenings.
All dishes are prepared freshly on the premises.
Live music is played Thursday and Friday evenings.
Varied menu available, 7 days a week, throughout the day including cooked breakfasts, weekend brunches,
light snacks, teas & coffees, lunches and dinners.

Sheridan, Claire and Karen Wood are a family who have lived and farmed in Kent for many generations.
Sheridan ran the family farm from the age of 18, specialising in market gardening and growing salad under
glass, and honing an interest in fresh produce and running one of the first 'Farm Shops' situated on the
A20 at Swanley. His daughter, Claire is the driving force behind the kitchen with 20 years' experience in
the catering industry. She was previously Catering Manager at the National Trust's Chartwell in Westerham
where she successfully transformed the menu, substantially boosting trade. Sheridan’s wife, Karen, who manages
the business side, has 20 years' experience in small business management, specialising in finance and event
management and planning.
