Why not round off your shopping with a cup of coffee, lunch or a glass of wine in the Produce Store Bar or in the main Restaurant?
Woods’ own brand range is launched
Having opened its doors in October 2009, Woods Produce Store is now stocking a range of ‘own brand’ products, all made on the premises.
Why not try before you buy – all items are also available on the menu at Woods Restaurant!
The first items in the range are
Jams
Strawberry Jam
Between 1890 and 1940, the Wood Family had a jam factory on their farm in Farningham, Kent. Using strawberries grown on the farm, the jam was sold in the farm shop. Sheridan Wood continues to make the jam using the same method with strawberries from local farms.
Ingredients: Strawberries (45%), Sugar, Pectin, Butter
340gm
Orange Marmalade
Originally all the marmalade sold at Woods Restaurant was made by Claire Wood’s Grandma Peggy. It is still made on site using the same traditional methods. Packed with oranges, the flavour of the pulp and flesh is induced through muslin to give it the nostalgic taste of marmalade that you remember
Ingredients: Oranges (45%), Sugar, Lemon
340gm
Raspberry Jam (in season)
Raspberries have been eaten since pre-historic times, but only gained widespread popularity after they hybridized and improved in England and France during 17th and 18th centuries. The sweet and delicate raspberry is truly the taste of English summer.
Ingredients: Raspberries, Sugar, Pectin, Butter
340gm
CHUTNEYS & PICKLES
Bramley Apple Chutney
From an original recipe by Sheridan Wood’s Grandma Bloomfield. Great with all cheeses – in sandwiches or on a platter, or to liven up a salad.
Ingredients: Bramley Apples, Malt Vinegar, Ground Ginger, Onions, Brown Sugar, Salt, Sultanas, Cayenne Pepper
340gm
Red Onion & Ginger Marmalade
The stem ginger adds a naughty kick to this savoury, sweet delight. Great with chicken, cold meats, sausages and pates
Ingredients: Red Onion, Vegetable Oil, Red Wine, Sugar, Stem Ginger
340gm
Piccalilli
The humble cauliflower is brought to life as a great accompaniment to ham, other cold meats and smoked fish. The Piccalilli first appeared in the English language in 1845, and might be an alteration of the word pickle. However, the term ‘Paco Lilla’ also appears in some editions of Hannah Glass’s 1747 book ‘The Art of Cookery’ to describe an
apparently related recipe for ginger flavoured pickle used for various vegetables.
Ingredients: Cauliflower, Cucumber, English Mustard, Turmeric, White Wine Vinegar, Corn Flour, Onion, Salt, Pepper
340gm
Pesto
Woods’ Pesto is made without pine nuts to give it a fresher flavour. Works really well with rocket, goat’s cheese and hot smoked salmon.
Ingredients: Basil, Olive Oil, Parmesan Cheese, Garlic, Salt, Pepper
340gm
